Start with a great script

I love communicating with written words. I spent some of my teens writing press releases for local arts events, and wrote for the local paper too. If the internet had existed back then, I would definitely have been an obsessive blogger. I spent a year working for a music management company and wrote press releases and newsletters, endlessly amending copy, alongside subbing my boss’s cv on what felt like a fairly regular basis.

Originally I was set to do a degree in Public Relations in Leeds, but one thing led to another and I was lucky enough to complete my BA in Media Studies, specialising in Broadcast Journalism.

These days I get my writing kicks here and on another blog I run, plus in short form on LinkedIn and Instagram. It’s copywriting. Words designed to sell, persuade, engage and help you as the reader to buy into my product.

I aim to be as authentic as possible, since, if you’re looking to book a voiceover, you also book a real-life person, hopefully, me! So, I try to share something of myself to give you a flavour of how we might work well together.

And that was partly why I was so excited to be asked to voice this video.

Tom Albrighton has written a fantastic book, Copywriting Made Simple. Being invited to be part of someone’s passion project is an honour. I can’t think of many things I enjoy more than being asked to contribute to something that is so personally important to another human being.

And as you might imagine, the script was beautifully written, so recording this was a breeze.

If you have a special project that might benefit from a voiceover, let’s chat.

You can find Copywriting Made Simple on Tom’s website and all the usual places that sell books.
