Radio campaign: Listen to the quintessential sound of a British summer
Radio campaign for Rowe’s Cornish Bakers
While voicing this summer’s radio campaign for Rowe’s I had an uncontrollable fit of rumbles. Tummy rumbles to be precise. Surely the sign of a well-crafted script is when the voice over is struggling to read it without salivating! I might have managed with one, but we had four scripts initially (there are more coming) and each one seemed to be tastier than the last.
The producer and I were being lulled into a relaxed, sunny, afternoon slump with a jolly summer holiday accompaniment from Sir Cliff, and a deluge of traditional Cornish pasties, sausage rolls and Cornish cream teas… in our heads. By the end of the session I was demanding a holiday and lashings of Cornish cream, and producer Luke was ready to pack up a picnic. Rowe’s, if you’re listening, you can pay me in baked goods for the next ads.
Turns out Rowe’s even make gluten and dairy-free treats, so there really is something for everyone. And it’s only two and a half hours to the Tamar Bridge from the Voiceovergirl studio. The Eden Project, the Lost Gardens of Heligan and gorgeous beaches? Start the car, I need a pasty!
Of course, it’s not all baked goods, I’ve also been selling cars, extolling the virtues of care homes, happily enthusing about Clarks Village (it’s just down the road from me and I genuinely love it) and flogging tiles. There’s no question that adding my voice to a radio campaign is one of my favourite parts of the job.
