It’s been an educational few days here at Voiceovergirl Towers. While the usual panic-buying of school shoes and uniforms is taking place (and smallest son has already worn through his first pair of new trainers!) we’ve also been working on various educational projects in the voiceover world.
Just in time for the announcement of this year’s GCSE and A-level results, the OCR examining board have released an explainer video describing the journey from exam to results. They wanted a non-voiceover voice, something that teenagers could relate to, and as far from commercial as possible.
In the world of commercials, I’ve worked on a television advert for maths educator Kumon. Aimed at parents, they were looking for an upbeat, aspirational and inspirational read. “Just do what you do best” is great direction to be given, and it was a lovely session to do.
I’m also voicing the summer Clarks Village tv and radio campaign, a favourite place for buying everything from uniforms, to school bags, and just down the road from me!
Meanwhile 12 year old Rosie has really stepped up to the mic, providing a 16 year old voice for a promotional video for BBC Bitesize. Sounding very mature and streetwise, it’s hard to believe she’s the same child that also provides the voiceover for this autumn’s Zapf Creation BabyBorn tv commercials.
